If you plan on doing a lot of this type of work, you might want to spend three times as much money to get something more appropriate. If you plan to only use it a couple of times a year and don't mind limits too much, then this is a good choice. Alligator clips and adjustments are of limited use. You can see it just by looking at it. The base isn't wide or heavy enough to be as stable as I was hoping. A magnifying glass is fine, but meaningful positioning is somewhere between difficult and impossible. You need a longer bendable arm to make it useful. And that comes with a lot of costs. I ended up taking off my magnifying glass and putting on a jewelry set to magnify. This worked much better than using their magnifying glass, which often blocked access to the area I was soldering. And if you're going to buy a loupe, get one with an LED light to illuminate the area you're working in.
