Review on ๐Ÿ•น๏ธ FYOUNG Nintendo Switch/Switch OLED JoyCon Replacement Latches - Lock Buckles Repair Tool Kit with Screwdrivers and Tweezer [New Version] by Jeremy Black

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great solution to a common problem; Easy to install, but not completely foolproof.

Includes parts and tools to repair two sets of joycons (two left, two right) so I've done this process 4 times and that's what I think : With the right installation, they do exactly what they're supposed to and work great. They provide a really solid connection and solved an issue I had with the stock plastics. 3 out of 4 of my joycons have come loose, two just from normal wear and tear and one from a fall. From what I've heard they can still chip in a fall, but they don't wear out with normal use. From what I've seen, they don't pose a serious risk of breaking the system, but of course modifying them is at your own risk. The operation itself is quite simple, but of course you can mess it up if you're not careful. I'd say this is a beginner to intermediate level mod, but here's what to look out for: First, no instructions are included. It's simple and straightforward, but I definitely recommend watching someone on YouTube do it first. This involves removing the six screws on each joycon, which are very small and can be lost. Losing a screw probably won't do you much harm, and you can buy replacements for the main screws, but be careful. The latch itself is spring loaded so you have to be very careful when removing it or you will see the tiny spring fly by and be lost forever. It's easy to avoid if you're aware of it, but don't get discouraged and lose that source. Another thing that can be easily messed up is unplugging the ribbon cables that connect the front and back of the joycons. They can be gently pushed back in (tweezers included) so they can be repaired, but it's a little tricky. This happened to two of the four I had surgery on, but both worked fine after I reconnected them. But that was a bit annoying. On a joycon, I over-screwed the plate holding the latch in place, causing it to stick a bit. After I solved it, it behaved normally. So don't think that you have to tighten these screws very much. That's all. If you like taking things apart these fasteners work great and come with everything you need except instructions. I'm very happy with the end result, they feel great. This solves a very common problem with Switch joysticks very well and if I get more in the future I will definitely be doing it again. Several reviews mention the need to change or write things down; This is not my experience at all, but it is possible that the seller uses multiple suppliers with slight differences. If it doesn't fit ask for a replacement as my kit fit and worked great.

Pros
  • Highly rated by testers for grip and durability
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks
