I bought the Hyper 212 LED because it was on sale and thought it was the same as the 212 EVO with the addition of red LEDs. However, although they are close, they are not exactly the same. The LED version has a slightly different mounting bracket, so the fan/heatsink can only be installed in one of two directions (in your case, the fan is facing forward or backward). 212 EVO can be installed in any direction (in your case the fan is forward, backward, up, down). This wasn't really a problem for me, but some of the builds I've done needed the flexibility in mounting options that the 212 EVO offers. However, once installed, the 212 LED worked well in my build and I would buy it again. It would be nice if LEDs were available in colors other than red.
