Review on ๐ŸŒฌ๏ธ Hessaire MC18M Portable Evaporative Cooler: 1300 CFM, Cools 500 Sq Ft (Color May Vary) by Jason Vigen

It's just an evaporative cooler

Cannot compete with an evaporative cooler in this class in terms of price/performance ratio. Bought a pair to keep my bedrooms, garage and computer rig cool. This is a major improvement for an air-cooled open rig. MC18 is too small for my living room. For this I need a 3-5k CFM model (e.g. MC61). It's lightweight (portable) despite its size, made entirely of plastic so it won't rust in the moisture it generates, and there are spares for it if something goes wrong. , and it's an easy-to-use/maintainable device. The plastic is strong enough to be carried around even when the tank is full of water. The wheels are actually rubberized and not just hard plastic. While it doesn't work as an AC device, it is much more efficient than what you would use in optimal conditions (dry heat). The key to making them work properly is sizing the cooler for the room and making sure it draws in fresh air from outside and can also exhaust humid air. Moist air circulation in a closed house/room is very poor. If you don't have enough windows to open, forget it. A small block will only add moisture to the room if you don't point it directly at yourself. If you can smell it (e.g. wet cardboard) it means there is too much moisture in the room that needs to be released/diffused and it is probably not optimally positioned or sized. This thing draws about 100 watts compared to a few kilowatts for a central air conditioner. . I have solar panels/batteries and it is very expensive/impossible to use compressor based air conditioning during peak hours and this is where these units come in. It stays tolerant until peak times are over or when the outside temperature is cooler, I can even leave it on all night and it won't even affect my generation. Several devices (including larger models) run for several hours on a battery inverter; the force they consume is negligible. It is mainly a fan and a 10w pond pump. I wish it had adjustable left and right air vents (up and down only). I think all small ultrasonic/humidifiers should be thrown away, this can be used as a better humidifier.
