This was a replacement pair of the originals I was going to order - the color is slightly different from the picture. I understand that all screens are different etc. I'm not upset about that - I just thought it was more of a tanish red, not maroon. Shoe inserts continue to appear. I'm not sure if they are cut too big or not. The material is definitely soft plastic. Haven't tried them on my daughter yet but I'm sure they will fit as expected. I've had real leather for over 40 years, but I'm pressed for time and have been looking for the 'look' more than anything else. I think they will work fine for the purpose they were purchased.
