Review on ๐Ÿพ Berlin Glass Carafe 40 Ounce by Mikasa by Daniel Jenkins

Revainrating 5 out of 5

High quality crystal glasses - graceful appearance, large capacity, beautiful striped accent.

These are beautiful champagne glasses - far nicer than anything I've ever had. This year I got new dishes and tablecloths for the holidays and I also wanted nice wine glasses. I have previously ordered red and white wine glasses from the Mikasa Berlin line and decided to try these champagne glasses to add to my collection. At 11.5 ounces they are quite large and look very festive; I like the open bell shape more than the fluted options in some of the other lines. Thin stripes are a nice accent and something different. The crystal is very thin and light and seems quite delicate to me. I don't have champagne on hand but I tried water just to see how stable they are on the table. The base is wide enough in diameter so that they don't tip over too easily. The product description says they are dishwasher safe, but I hand washed them. I know the crystal should be pretty strong, but I don't want to risk breaking any of the sets. We always seem to break things here, so I intend to save them for the holidays and special occasions. Champagne flutes are quite large and actually take up quite a bit of cupboard space, so this should be considered before making a purchase. I figured I could keep them in the box they arrived in, but it's also quite large and doesn't fit where I usually keep rarely used items. Just a note for anyone considering buying these glasses as a gift: the box the glasses came in was designed to protect them during transit and may not be suitable as a gift. Each jar has a sticker on the bottom - mine comes off easily and just peels off. There's also an embossed Mikasa logo on the base, which isn't particularly visible but definitely stands out. It annoys some people, but it doesn't really bother me. I'm familiar with the quality of the Mikasa brand and these beautifully designed champagne flutes live up to that reputation and appear to cost $44.99 a set. four.
