Now that my Acura TLX is out of warranty, I'll change the oil myself. I know, I know. The Magnuson-Moss Law says I don't have to go to the dealer, but the dealer usually gives me coupons that cost about the same price as if I did it myself. I felt it was more important to be able to tell the dealer you serviced it when something went wrong under warranty. In any case. Changing the oil is not a mystery to me. Neither these nor the other seals. When they arrived I found it odd that they looked more like metal washers than the ring-to-ring seals that are typical of Subaru and Mitsubishi engines. When I compared them to what was installed by my dealer I noticed they were slightly different. The dealer's OEM gasket was "ring on ring" where it feels solid and only has an extra millimeter or two of clearance at the drain plug. So far I haven't noticed any leaks so they seem to be working. But if I had to do it all over again, I'd probably choose something closer to an OEM part (if not, just order a few from the dealer to be sure). I do like the ziploc bag they come in though.
