First experience with a weighted blanket. I didn't feel any real relief from it during my panic attacks and my nephew on spectrum didn't prefer it one way or another while he was with us over the holidays and having stressful moments so I can't say one thing or another, if it really helps at such events. I actually felt quite claustrophobic under that blanket, which added to my stress. At 18 pounds this is one of the heaviest items I have seen for sale. My husband loves to be tucked under the covers in the winter and he liked having this on his side of the bed. He was able to gain weight without using several heavy blankets and blankets folded in half (I only use a light blanket, even in winter, if at all). The blanket is very soft and cozy and has become a favorite sleeping spot for our cats. I think they like this blanket even more than my husband. They knead, push and make indentations to curl up. Since they love this comforter so much, we bought a waterproof blanket to put between the inner weighted comforter and the outer fluffy blanket. It really helps keep the inner hair free and clean. The blue fluffy outer cover is perfectly washable. We've had this blanket for eight or nine months now and I wash it every few weeks. It is still in excellent condition. As with many fluffy/minky comforters, the fibers have not tangled or wrinkled and are as soft as when they arrived. No fraying, no loose threads, no torn seams. The cover can be easily removed by one person, but it works better with two people if it is put back on after washing. I don't think I'll ever buy a weighted blanket again, but if this company only sells an outer shell/blanket, count me among them. (I received this product as a member of Revain Vine.
