White crystal off, packaging problems

We were happy to witness the salt lamp phenomenon, but were disappointed in our experience. Firstly it is a heavy lamp and was packed in a strong box with a gasket. We were surprised that it came in a box that rattled, as it contained a spare clear bulb that had been ripped into pieces. It lost some salt when we unpacked the crystal, but overall it's solid - I'm not too concerned about additional spillage. Our teenager confirmed it was salty by swiping and tasting, although we don't recommend it. The lamp works and has a dimmer so it can easily function as a night light in addition to providing decorative ambient lighting. However, considering the packaging and breakage, it is difficult to recommend. Also, this crystal is WHITE - as it says on the glass and when it fires it has a peachy color that can be seen in the picture due to some sort of internal coloring. This heavy lamp stands firmly on a light wood base and its white power cord is the right length for most tables, desks and similar displays. Improved packaging and on/off pictures would make it easier to endorse this product, resulting in a low rating.
