After researching neck pillows I decided to give this one a try. I wasn't sure if that would help me. I had cervical spine surgery a few months ago and it took a long time to heal. Especially muscles. After the PT session I was in severe pain. When my pillow arrived I was disappointed as it was rock hard with no suppleness or softness. What I read in several reviews! Yes! So I took out the inner materials (which are conveniently packaged) and added my own fiberfill until it was comfortable. This provided softness, but the pillow still supports my neck perfectly! The cover is a bit firm and fits my filling perfectly! The smaller size was the main reason I bought it. The shape is perfect, it supports the neck muscles at the back (not too far forward) and sides (doesn't rub against the face). I feel pampered and it minimizes my pain. A lot of! I gave it four stars because of the hard padding and the ability to purchase additional straps. I would prefer a hardness selection like "very hard" or "medium hard". If I could buy extra straps I wouldn't use a long, wide elastic band around the chair either. Looks terrible. but I feel fine!
