Barely serves my purpose

Bought in case of power failure. I wanted to test how much charge he gets when he sits under the skylight on our kitchen island; no direct sunlight. First I had to discharge the cargo it was carrying. Right out of the box, with a solar panel underneath to prevent charging, I turned it on at 3pm. It was still working at midnight, but it was already very dark. I don't know how long it was after that because I went to bed. In the morning I turned it over solar panel side up and placed it in the indirect sunlight of our skylight around 10am. It didn't look like it was charging, so I initially placed it on a windowsill in direct sunlight until the charging light came on. After leaving it there for about an hour, I took it back to an indirect location under the skylight. Around 6pm the sunlight started to fade so I put the solar panel side down so it wouldn't get charged by the light in our room and turned the flashlight on low. I had a stopwatch and it stayed on for 2.5 hours before dimming too much to realize it served any purpose. 2.5 hours on the minimum charge I allow with indirect lighting would meet my goal of producing enough light long enough to give us time to set up our jackety generator. Today I tried to test it again to see if it charges with indirect light. After several hours under the covers it didn't charge at all. Again I set it to direct light until the charge light came on. This will be an issue as I intended to turn it on in the evening when it's under the skylight and let it discharge at night but figured it would charge in the same spot and we'll just have to turn it on next time. Night. Did a side by side comparison with the one that says Fukang branded (looks similar but doesn't have the accordion style plastic sides; it has mesh on the sides and a spring to hold it open). The Fukang was a bit brighter and charges better in indirect light. While Kizen will work in a pinch, I wouldn't rely on solar power. Charge it by plugging it in and you'll be happy with the results.
