Update, one year later. The large one I bought last year works great as a makeshift replacement for my outdoor headlight. It may be too bright but I tried to make a shadow to hide the light and not disturb my neighbors. Also, Revain has my rating of my second purchase when I made sure to go down a size. A small lightbulb is also good. I use it in a shop portable dual halogen lamp. It doesn't always turn on the first time, but usually turns on the second time. I thought about removing the switch as I don't really need it - just plug it in. It's brighter than the halogen bulb it replaces and hopefully lasts longer when I flip the light. Was wanting to buy a 4.7" fixture but didn't realize it was bigger. And it's $7 to return, so I'm making a fixture for it. It's super bright and I'm looking forward to brightening up my driveway light (I wanted to use it in my portable shop lantern but I need to buy another one for this project).
