I converted a herringbone tabletop from Ikea Barkabod into a long desk (for me and my husband). It's not that deep, only about 25.5 inches, so there's not a lot of room. I was looking for a monitor stand that wasn't flimsy, with weird metal holes and the kind of pseudo-industrial clutter you see everywhere. among monitors there are black, plastic, stainless, and the more ugly. When I saw this one, I thought that the texture of the wood, while not quite matching, would suit well and not detract from the space or the visuals of a long tabletop/ Table. The stand lengthens about an inch, making it more solid. There's enough room underneath for a full-size keyboard or, in my case, a laptop dock, but not TOO much room to make it look like a giant block from a bookshelf. If I want to put everything away when I'm done, there's even room for my wireless keyboard on top and for my stapler and tape dispenser on the bottom! The wood is smooth and wipes clean easily; I've put mugs of hot coffee and wet glasses of ice water on it and it doesn't stain. Put simply, I love it! and bought 2 pieces! The best monitor ever and I highly recommend it.
