Review on CalFlor Tile Fix Solution, FL49133 by Sergio Guardado

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Finished with travertine

I had cracks in my travertine floor that I wanted to repair. Someone came out to give me an estimate (outrageously expensive) and he told me exactly how he would fix the tiles. So I did a little research on the internet and came across this product. It was easy to use and comes with everything you need. It filled the cracks well and dries very quickly (I'm not sure if that's a good thing because it really cuts down on the "oops time"). I had to clean it up a bit with a razor blade but it came out ok. My only problem, or rather two problems with this product were: 1. Trying to match the color was a real hit or miss. It's not as obvious as they make it out to be. Luckily for me, I renovated travertine tiles, which have many color variations, and this tight vine was good enough. Trying to pick up a one-color tile will take effort. The second problem is to match the gloss of the surrounding tiles. They included a small container that could do this, but not in my case. I would also be concerned that their solution will wear off over time. If the light shines on my repair, you can see where the cracks were. But the contractor I got the quote from said his repair would have the same problem. If you look down at the crack, you won't see it.

Pros
  • No solvents, no wax; All-round carefree package - water purification when wet!
Cons
  • I'll write later
