EVERYTHING I OWN IS A CHALKBOARD NOW AND I COULDN'T BE HAPPIER

I chalk board painted. everything. It has made life so much more fun. I have a general black, matte aesthetic in my home anyway and now I C AN WRITE NOTES TO MY ROOMMATE ON EVERYTHING. It took her a minute to realize I had made our coffee table (among other things) a chalk board but now we leave each other notes every morning and night (we have opposite schedules) and it is fantastic. For more useful details:- it is easy to spray though be aware that it drips a bit which can leave both drip…

Pros
  • Yes
Cons
  • The nozzle gets clogged easily, affecting the spray output

Works okay. on my review.

So far, I've covered one piece with this chalkboard spray paint. It seems to apply nicely, but not as evenly as I had hoped it would. I had also purchased chalkboard paper at the same time, and appreciate how it applies to the surface more than the spray paint. I think for large surfaces, the spray paint would work well, but for covering 9X9, I wouldn't necessarily recommend it. I have not yet tested chalk on it because you need to wait 24 hours for it to dry. Also, make sure you have actual…

Pros
  • The matte finish of the paint looks elegant and modern
Cons
  • It requires multiple coats and long drying times, making it a time-consuming project

Fun product! best in my review

We purchased a large chalkboard for $5 at a yard sale, but when we got it home, it didn't seem to hold drawings very well. The board had been slicked out over years of use and play, so I tried this as a last resort and I'm so glad I did! This is a really fun product and there are so many project ideas that you'll come up with once you use it on one thing: I now want to find an old table at a garage sale and set up a drawing place for my kids. :) I used two coats and followed the directions on…

Pros
  • The paint is non-toxic and safe for use in homes with children and pets
Cons
  • The finish gets blotchy when exposed to moisture

Wow - insta-chalkboard!

I was totally amazed, didn't even know they made such a thing! Had this cool little "pig holding a chalkboard menu" dude in our kitchen that somehow got to where chalk wouldn't even stick to it anymore, like some sort of shiny residue on it or something. Anyway, stressed about what to do because replacing the board would mean removing and reapplying the frame for it had a unique nature that said "you do not want to have to remake this frame."In any event, applied first coat in a

Pros
  • ‎2.5 x 2.5 x 8 inches
Cons
  • The paint fades into a grayish color when exposed to moisture or water

The best chalkboard paint

I've used hundreds of cans of this for my business, and it never disappoints. Rustoleum is absolutely the only brand of spray paint I will use for anything, and I've tried them all. Just be aware that when you use this you're going to need to sand your surface first. I use 3m sanding blocks, starting with coarse, and then medium, fine, and most importantly extra fine. Depending on your surface you may also need to prime it to get it smooth. I use Rustoleum 2x coverage primer in gray. I think…

Pros
  • ‎Specialty
Cons
  • The paint takes a long time to dry, making it inconvenient to use

Wouldn’t use the spray version again

I am not a super crafty person, so take that into consideration. I thought this was a pretty good product I’m pretty easy to apply, but unlike other people I have started to run out after the first coat of my table top, so it didn’t go that far for me. I had some leftover chalkboard paint a Friend had given me years ago and ended up using that to finish with a sponge brush, and I found it much easier to apply and much calmer a process because I didn’t have stinky fumes everywhere and wasn’t…

Pros
  • Ideal for creating a custom interior chalkboard on multiple surfaces including wood, metal, masonry, drywall, plaster, glass, concrete, paperboard and hardboard
Cons
  • It's not suitable for outdoor use, as the finish fades quickly in sunlight

Good quality you can trust by Rust-Oleum

Works well. I actually bought this to cover a pre-existing chalk board I painted on one of my kitchen walls. It needed a touch up and this worked out quite well. Also, if you use liquid chalk it won't bleed into this durable paint like my last brush on paint.

Pros
  • ‎11.0 Ounce
Cons
  • The paint peels off when exposed to moisture or humidity

Top Notch. best in my review

We ordered two of these for an in-home job that consisted of creating a 6-foot by 3-foot on-wall chalkboard. The job was quick and easy, dried fast, and seems to be just as functional as I imagined. I had plenty to cover the surface area of the board, but with the extra, just put on a light second coat and we now have an awesome chalkboard in our spare bedroom.

Pros
  • Apply the oil-based formula to create a hard surface for chalk writing on most indoor surfaces
Cons
  • It takes too long to cure, requiring a lengthy wait time before use

Does its job, (but does leaves a mess behind).

First off, let me just say that I've never really used spray paint before. I probably should have prepared my area better, because this left a huge mess on my floors and walls. I didn’t realize that spray would cover such a large area, so I messed my wall up and now have to repaint it. Additionally, when I spray painted the sides of my upper (wooden) cabinets, but when I had finished there was residue all over my floors and counters. I had to mop the floors four times before it was all up. I…

Pros
  • It dries quickly and is ready to use in just a few hours
Cons
  • It's difficult to achieve even coverage on areas with curves or corners

It's merely alright

I used this stuff to try and repurpose a spent dry erase board as a chalkboard. Here's the skinny:Pros: Not expensive, goes on nicely, was enough in the can to cover one of those giant dry erase boards (like 4 x 5" big).Cons: I painted a TV stand in spray-chalkboard paint a decade ago. Don't remember the stuff, but it had some grit to it and was great for writing on and wiping off. This stuff is thinner. It greys up, at best, if you use it right. Chalk is hard to erase. Leaves imprints you…

Pros
  • Covers up to 7 sq ft and dries to the touch in 20 minutes
Cons
  • It isn't scratch-resistant, making it prone to damage from frequent use

A great quality, simple to use product!

This product is just what we were looking for. We sprayed it on a piece of smooth wood and used two coats. We let it sit for the time listed in the directions and used the side of a piece of chalk to rub the painted wood. (this is what the directions say to do) Then you wipe it off and are free to write on it. The chalk writes very easily on the painted surface. Erases easily and leaves a clean surface. It was very simple to use and a good quality product.

Pros
  • ‎1913830
Cons
  • The paint dries too thick, making it difficult to write or draw on

I'm pretty disappointed with this purchase. The application was dusty and the paint wipes off easily when you try to clean off chalk even after two applications waiting the prescribed amount of time to wait between applications. I should have got the paint on version instead of the spray version. It's not thick at all.

Pros
  • ‎Adult
Cons
  • It can't be used on surfaces that come in contact with food

Does what it is supposed to do

Used these to create a multitude of signs for our wedding. The best part is that if you mess up with a chalk marker, it comes right off with a damp cloth! I would recommend using this spray paint and making your own signs to purchasing "chalk board" items from places like Hobby Lobby because those do not wipe clean. You can turn any flat surface into a chalk board with this. The smoother the surface, the nicer this will work.

Pros
  • This product is durable and long-lasting, meaning you can use it for years to come
Cons
  • The paint is not durable enough to withstand repeated cleanings and erasing

I liked it! on my review.

Fun to use. Be sure to use it outdoors or in a designated work space. And wear a mask. It's hard to breathe without one, especially if you don't want to inhale the chemicals. Also, you spray, you're likely to get the paint on other areas as it becomes airborne. Not a lot. You may just notice it when wiping nearby counters in a closed/small space. This is more fun to use than the paint you put on with a brush.

Pros
  • It is perfect for creating fun, interactive play areas for kids
Cons
  • The finish is too reflective and shiny, making it difficult to read

Creates a Usable Chalkboard Surface

I'm rather obsessed with this stuff! It's pretty amazing. 2-3 coats creates a writable chalkboard texture on most surfaces. I've used it on wooden plaques, canvas, furniture and even file-folders. Plus, it's corrected several "chalkboard" items I had that that had unusable surfaces and made them writable. My pic shows a wooden plank above the mantel that I used this paint on.

Pros
  • Love this paint
Cons
  • The finish is not as smooth as advertised
