not as good as the old gps

i have had tom toms for over 10 years and each unit had a great attachment system, it held onto the windscreen and was easy to remove. GPS and reinstall but the system on this 1525 is difficult to install and removing the GPS from the windshield mount is almost impossible. Can't read the battery charge level, you don't know if the GPS is charging or what the charge level is because the icon is too small. I love the auto arrow touch feature to mark the location. I also like plotting the route as the new and improved tom-tom never seems to know where it's going. I drove 79 miles the other day and the device spent most of its time recalculating it and also insisting the ride is 100 miles and would take 3 hours, the ride takes less than 2. My old XXL is never stayed behind for more than a few minutes. I've read the 148 page manual but it doesn't mention how to backup when the GPS isn't working. Also, the XXL had a feature that allowed me to upload a photo of my wife at launch. This was very important to me as my wife died last year. It was great to see her face every time I started my truck. It is a pity that this function is no longer activated. Overall the 1525 is not user friendly, in my opinion the older devices were much better, this will be the last gps volume i will buy.

Pros
  • traffic updates: stay away from traffic
Cons
  • definitely a bad product
