The mechanical part really is aluminum which mightCome in handy if wet. The body is plated plastic. The pencil sharpener is metalAnd screws into the end of the barrel. The clutch is smooth and nice. HoldsWell with no slipping of the lead. Easy to take apart and clean.Very nice packaging protected the pencils well.Con: Not a fan of the built in sharpener. It made strange indentions in my Cretacolor leads that were pre sharpened.Couldn't make them from a pencil kit for this price.Will buy again.
