I was skeptical as I have ridden in Fillis stirrups for many years. We spent the weekend learning XC and I used it for the first time this weekend. It was hot, it was exhausting and we rode some of the toughest trails we've ever done together. I've never bothered with my knees or ankles, even in the saddle. I packed my arthritis cream which I have to buy in stock at the moment let's face it! It never fell out of my pocket all weekend, not even the next few days. The support from these stirrups was great, can't believe it took me so long to switch. Metal goes to the commission. I've also ridden in a pair of articulated stirrups and have found that they offer less support - I won't be using them again either.
