I wasn't sure how they worked but they were awesome. The light they give off is like a candle. My 4 year old son now insists on sleeping with one of these next to his bed! The flame itself doesn't look that impressive, but it's ok. Everything else can hardly be distinguished from a real candle. The remote control is easy to use and very practical. It has a range of about 8 feet. We've had these candles for about three weeks on their first set of AA batteries and they still work with a good 6-8 hours of use a day. We originally bought them to hang on windows as Christmas decorations. . To that end, they look amazing from the inside, but from the street (about 30 feet) they're a bit dull and more orange compared to traditional Christmas candles. This gives the house a slightly more sinister feel than we originally anticipated. At the same time, my wife and I quickly got used to it and are definitely satisfied. It will be difficult to remove them after the New Year. Maybe we won't ;)
