Works for me!: Oils and Fluids

I use this as a fuel additive in my Cummins diesel along with Lucas Fuel Treatment. Keeps everything clean and lubricated.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Very expensive

Very reliable. in oils

I've been using this oil in my Johnson 90 for 20 years with no problems. It smokes a little more than some of the newer brands but I trust this oil.

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Packaging is ugly

Works great, good value for money

I have used this on my jet ski and it works like a champ with 40:1 premix. The smoke level is no worse than other oils I've used and there are no issues with spark plug clogging. Good protection and value for money seem to win.

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • Only available in white

A very respected brand at a great price

I bought Pennzoil Marine 2-Stroke Oil for less than half the price my local marina wanted to charge for their 'bulk' 2-Stroke Oil. It's always nice to be able to buy a product from a company with such a long track record at a very reasonable price.

Pros
  • Everything is great!
Cons
  • Band

Much less smoke. in oils

We use this oil in a 1986 6 cylinder Mercury. This is a classic, low-tech, carbureted two-stroke engine. Mine has had a few hours of work and is in great condition. When Fon Du Lac's big black chimney squeaks at 6000 rpm, there's no other sound than that. The most notable thing about using this oil is that it's just less smoky. That is a good thing. I'm sure the lube is fine. And the price is very reasonable.

Pros
  • Hands free operation
Cons
  • Requires outlet

Update 6/14/21 The price is back to where it should be. I'm now buying another 200 Johnson 2 Smoke for my outboard. Works as it should (updated 5/28/19) This has doubled the price. Walmart has the same oil for 19.99. DON'T SPEND YOUR MONEY My 2001 200HP 2-STROKE OIL INJECTION Johnson works. No problem for the VRO pump, it smokes on startup but after warming up it doesn't smoke, the spark plugs don't foul, I also mix 10-20% mystery oil.

Works as it should.

These were the XLFs I normally use, but as the tanks are a little short (6 gallons each) I figured 1 gallon of these in each wouldn't hurt. No problems so far, and from what I've learned, XLF just has slightly more anti-wear additives for older or "hardened" engines. So again, it doesn't hurt. Great value for money. If I didn't have an HPDI engine or just an old cheap 2-stroke I would most likely still use XLF or this if it was a very small outboard maybe regular TCW3 oil. Every review I write…

Pros
  • Trial for one year
Cons
  • Light repairability

My new 2-stroke oil - oils and fluids

I did a little research before buying to try and save money. First off, it's about $10 a gallon cheaper than other major brands and does the job just as well in my opinion. Mercury has a very basic warranty, almost worthless if you ask me, a year and you have to use their oil. The first season I spent about 18 hours on my engine. I think they will trust their product more, but that's another story for another time. I have complete confidence in my father's 'Pennzoil' motor oil and now his…

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Almost never

Ideal for 2 and 4 strokes! Just as good as more expensive brands!

Burns well in my device. A ratio of 32:1 to 50:1 is recommended. At around 40:1 there is no noticeable blue smoke coming out of the tailpipe. A four-stroke engine works well at a ratio of 100:1 to 300:1. From 300:1 there is no noticeable difference to normal petrol. Below 100:1 is not recommended as this engine does not require as much lubrication and will only foul the spark plugs and valves. A ratio of 160:1 is optimal for a 4-stroke engine. This increases lubrication of the MPG and…

Pros
  • Durable test results
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
