have to assume it does as it says

I like to keep my engine squeaky clean on the inside. I use Rislone and alternate with several other brands. All I can say is that, I never have any form of sludge buildup or grunge in my engine. I can eat off the internals given that everything is shiny clean and free of any surface buildup. Of course that must go hand in hand with using a good quality oil changed regularly.

Pros
  • Use this stuff all the time
Cons
  • Not always readily available for purchase

Good value - my new review

I am a big believer in helping my aging engines with this powerful time tested product developed and directed towards that goal!

Pros
  • Add to every oil change.
Cons
  • Can create additional maintenance demands for vehicle owners

Tried this to cure noisy tappets on 2004 Mini Cooper.

For the most parts it worked. Just have to keep an eye on the oil level in the engine to keep it from coming back. That's my feedback.

Pros
  • got rid of the lifter tick in my 1993 miata
Cons
  • Could be harmful to wildlife if disposed of improperly

Good stuff, quiets noisy lifters pretty quickly

Whatever car you have, if it has some miles on it, Risoline is a good additive for your high mileage engine. It works especially good for the gm vortec series of engines. They all have lifter tap. This will help keep those lifters pumped up at high miles. Good stuff and it actually works.

Pros
  • Great product and good price
Cons
  • Can be difficult to store or transport safely

goodb for internal cleaning

I have used this in all used cars i have bought over the years-- for at least the first 2--- 3000--mile changes to clean sludge and gunk--it has worked good everytime for me--quieted some when it unblocked oil passages

Pros
  • Help my engine a lot
Cons
  • Can be inconvenient to use

Cured my noisy lifter

My car (130,000) had a noisy lifter. I added one bottle of Rislone to the crankcase, drove a few miles and the noise disappeared. Yahoo!

Pros
  • Reduces friction and wear
Cons
  • May make future repairs or maintenance more difficult

works as advertised!

let me just say that you milage may vary.however; I have a 2012 ram with the 5.7 hemi.around 90,000 miles it started the INFAMOUS hemi tick. Then at 100,000 the check engine light came on.I already knew it was the hydraulic lifters which the the 5.7 hemi is infamous for.I was fully prepared to jerk all the lifters but i saw this product and figured it couldnt hurt.one bottle of this and a full synthetic oil change.100 miles later the check engine light is off and my truck is as quiet as the day

Pros
  • Oils & Fluids
Cons
  • Could cause engine overheating or fluid loss

A great buy for the money.

Rislone is a trusted name in the automotive industry and Rislone 4102 is an additive you can add at any time to your engine to help reduce sludge and keep your engine running longer. I use it every 10,000 miles and drive my cars to around 200,000 miles and have never had a major engine repair. For the price of a sandwich you too can keep your car running longer by adding Rislone 4102 Yellow Engine Treatment to your engine.

Pros
  • Appears to help engine oil use and noise. Will buy again. Thank you.
Cons
  • May leave residue or buildup in the engine

Use at your own risk

Triggered 420 code in one of my cars Toyota Corolla after 50miles or so. and on the other one (Toyota Sienna) is now running rough at idle 600s it was 750-800 rpms at idle before I used this product. Use at your own risk won’t be using it againMight clean. I don’t know. Definitely didn’t work out for me

Pros
  • With regular usage, your car's engine may experience some carbon build-up, which can compromise its fuel-efficiency. By relying on Rislone High Mileage Engine Treatment, you can clear out the carbon deposits and restore your vehicle’s fuel efficiency, ultimately saving you money at the gas pump
Cons
  • Could cause damage to catalytic converters in vehicles

PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE!

Great Product to remove valve noise. Strongly recommend using as a preventative maintenance every oil change or at least every other!

Pros
  • I will continue to buy this product for engine up jeep after it got rid of my lifter tick after one use
Cons
  • Contains potentially harmful chemicals

It actually worked!

I had an annoying ticking coming from my truck and was told it was a lifter (180k miles) and was told it was one of my lifters. I was also told that I would need to replace the lifter of the engine. I put this product in on my last oil change hoping it would work. For about 3 weeks, I didn't see any improvement, but this past week, the noise was gone. I saved a ton of money as I was getting ready to take it to the shop to get some work done. I would suggest maybe adding this as maintenance…

Pros
  • I used in my cars and I am very satisfied with the performance in my toyota
Cons
  • Requires frequent application for optimal results

Pros
  • Great stuff! I had one lifter "ticking" and now it's very quiet.
Cons
  • Can damage plastic or rubber engine components

Worst idea ever - my new review

I'm pretty sure this is what destroyed the engine in our truck, I wouldn't ever buy again or accept as free from someone May not significantly increase vehicle lifespan.

Pros
  • My valve train was getting very noisy at 100k miles. This stuff quieted it up and I'd recommend it.
Cons
  • May not significantly increase vehicle lifespan

Easy to use in my review

It actually worked on my '08 GMC Yukon Xl, the ticking noise went away! and I thought it had a collapsed lifter Thanks for attention.

Pros
  • Thus product worked great!
Cons
  • May not be approved by all vehicle manufacturers or mechanics

This contains no ZDDP/Zinc additive

I am sure this stuff does as advertised. But unfortunately for me i misread the label. Was looking for the zinc additive. Only giving 3 stars because it was the big advertised option at the top of the search list when i searched "zddp additive" . This product contains no zinc so if thats what you are looking for, this isn't it. Risoline makes a zinc additive sod on amazon for the same price though.

Pros
  • Always a good price. Always does it's job.
Cons
  • Could void vehicle warranty in some cases

IT WORKS! GIVE IT TIME

Used it for a bad lifter, I put a full bottle in with my oil change, drove around nothing happenedA week or so later noise was a little quieter, it’s been a little over a month now and noise is completely gone

Pros
  • Engine tap stopped immediately after adding like they said it would
Cons
  • Can cause more harm than good in older vehicles

Fixes Tappet Noise / Engine Tick

Have a 2009 Toyota Camry Hybrid that developed tappet noise / engine tick several months after changing the piston rings. Used Motor Medic as instructed. Also used Rislone Engine Treatment following the oil change. After several trips around town the engine noise is gone. Works as advertised!

Pros
  • 😉
Cons
  • Not suitable for all driving conditions and environments

The stuff works. I had a Chevy V8 with noisy lifters (I think all Chevy V8's probably end up with noisy lifters) and tried several different products and techniques to resolve it, all with little or no impact. One dose of this stuff and it was silky and quiet. Don't know how it works, but I do know it was much more effective than anything else I'd used to quiet the lifters in my SUV's engine. Good stuff.

Pros
  • Additives
Cons
  • Can be dangerous to handle without proper precautions

I like the results so far.

I've own a 1995 Subaru Legacy L with hydraulic lifters (later models went to solid lifters). Despite frequent oil changes with good quality oil the valves would tap when the engine was cold. When I put in the Risoline the valve noise immediately went away. I'm not an engineer so I don't know exactly what happened inside the engine to do this. I'm going to drive it awhile to see if stays good.

Pros
  • It was great
Cons
  • May have a strong odor or unpleasant smell
