I wanted my new cat to be able to see the birds and squirrels on the back deck up close and personal without having to go outside. She was a salvation and may never have had that opportunity. But the window in the door is quite high and I knew I did NOT want a regular cat tree as it weighs a ton and I can't push it to the side to get out. Enter these wonderful cubes. My husband had doubts about their durability, but after being able to fold easily and add pillows, they were spot on. My cat weighs about 10 pounds and has only had one mishap with them so far where she fell through one that we left "uncut" so she could jump. I'm not sure if she was previously weakened or if she hit right. All I know is that the center circle collapsed. So I put the second pillow on and everything is fine now - and the ribbons for the pillow are threaded perfectly through the slots in the cube and tied tight. It took some catnip and a treat to overcome her natural suspicion of this novelty, but when she finally stood up and was practically nose to nose with a squirrel on the other side of the glass, she was sold! I would highly recommend them to seniors who want their pets to be able to see the road or just a playset but can't handle heavy wooden ones. They connect very easily - we didn't use the "bridge" that came with the kit to connect the two cubes, but I can see how much fun that would be. IF you have a 25 pound cat (or a rabbit if bunnies get that big!) I'm not sure what would happen if she jumped a cube from something even higher like a bookshelf, for example. But for the average pet, I think it's great. We have two sets left and one that she sticks her nose in every now and then. fun for everyone! Put it near the window where the birds fly and you'll never be able to tear them away!
