Review on 🔪 X-Acto Retract-A-Blade No. 1 Knife (X3204): Precision at Your Fingertips by Shantel Griffin

While the idea is great, the execution is poor. I explain: I use X-actos all day in the advertising business so I know what works and what doesn't. I'll start with the cons as they are required to make a reservation over the pros. Cons: 1) It's important to note that I can get blades that I can order from my suppliers, assuming they're never X-acto brand either. MANY #11 blade makers will not fit in the holder. There is a small portion of the blade that extends beyond the width of the blade's "tail" (the portion that goes into the holder). The hole in the knife is ONLY as wide as the shaft, so it's bigger and you can't close it without force, which will damage it. 2) The holder sucks. Switch, which extends the knife, does not stay fixed where it is supposed to work with the knife. Disappointing. 3) Continued 2: The construction seems cheap, the latch is wobbly, overall not very good execution. It would have been better if it was made a little more robust, with an aluminum outer casing, possibly with a working switch. Of course it will cost more but I would pay. Pros: It's cool to have a knife that can be closed if you can find the right blade and the lock works for you. Can anyone ever match these clear caps!? NO. How about some colors guys! But I digress; Unless you use it all day like me and only buy Xacto blades, it's a great idea, it just needs to get better.
