Everything that could go wrong when I replaced my old hard drive (that groaned and spun with every mouse click) with this SSD on my desktop, went wrong. I had to look up a hack/workaround for every single thing: (1) SSD wasn't recognized - in fact it crashed my entire computer the first time I plugged it in (2) formatted the SSD but failed miserably on the clone fail (man, many attempts at variations) (3). Then I downloaded other software from the Internet - another error. After many more steps and a full 24 hour cycle from Friday to Saturday (seriously!) I decided to just build the system from scratch. There were a lot of problems, tooโpartly because Mr. Acer, the maker of my desktop, doesn't seem too keen on users hacking into their desktop and unplugging a failed hard drive themselves (no fault of Crucial). . But finally I have an installed SSD with "Windows 10" (restored from a USB stick I had to make) - and dude! it's amazingly fast. I wouldn't be able to tell if the Geek Squad replaced that SSD and told me they got me a new computer (and essentially sold me a $100 upgrade for $800 - ok, I see it not). Still on Day 2 but optimistic that the 30+ hours (less sleep etc.) spent on this update will be recovered through savings on downloads, launches and convenience.
