I bought these tongs because I thought the description made them well made. I was in for a nasty surprise when using tongs to place marinated boneless chicken breasts on my gas grill. Upon squeezing, which I thought was enough to hold the meat, the tip of the tongs flexed back, rendering them unusable. Upon closer inspection I noticed that the silicone rubber tip was clamped into the pliers and was not coated with silicone rubber over the metal pliers as I would have expected based on the product description. This makes them useless for food of any weight. I found a similar set from Oneida with silicone rubber coating over metal plier tips at my local Walmart and they were 20% cheaper than Hotec pliers. Hotec tongs were sent in the trash after a few uses.
