Downgraded from 5 stars to 3 stars. See updates below. I've had Etekcity Smart Plugs, Smart Switches and now a Smart Bulb. I haven't used any other smart bulbs to compare, but I like Etekcity's simplicity and the customer service has been great when I've had issues. Connecting the Smart Bulb to my Wi-Fi network was easy. I'm not sure if this is a firmware update or not (there have been several since the last time I plugged in a switch or socket), but it took a few more steps to get smart plugs and switches working with my Wi -Fi network to connect them were also easy. I was very surprised how heavy the lamps are compared to normal LED lamps. A light bulb is heavier than the Google Pixel 3a XL on which I use the VeSync app to control all my EtekCity smart items. As I said, the connection was easy. Turn off the lamp, take out the light bulb and replace it with a smart light bulb. Turn on the power. The smart lightbulb flashes 5 times. I go to the app and add a smart lightbulb. Select a lightbulb, then select my WiFi network and the app and lightbulb will do the rest. Then I can control the lightbulb as needed. I didn't buy these bulbs because they are dimmable, but it's a nice feature. These are 60w equivalent bulbs but I find the LED bulbs a bit harsh. Darkening by about 25% takes some of the harshness out of my eyes. I bought this primarily for our front porch and porch. We have a large lanai with 2 lighted ceiling fans. Next to the porch is a driveway that connects the house and garage. There is a ceiling lamp on the porch. Unfortunately, both the ceiling fans and the hallway lights are controlled by the same switch. So if the fans are to run during the day, the aisle lighting must also be switched on. Weird way of connecting fans and lights, but that's exactly what we have. So the smart lightbulb was a much cheaper alternative than hiring an electrician to change the wiring. We leave the power to the fans and shine all the time. The ceiling fans are controlled by remote controls and when we need to turn on the lights in the hallway we turn them on and off with the app. I have a scheduled lightbulb that stays on from sunset to midnight, so we don't really need an app to turn the lights on or off as we rarely go out after midnight. If so, I can turn on the lights from my smartphone before we get home. UPDATE: Unfortunately, these lamps didn't work for me. When I set them up in early March, we had very good weather. Not hot and not very humid. As summer approached, the lightbulbs began to play. They would tune in. When I tried to turn them off, they either turned off and on again, or the app reported that the bulbs weren't responding. They also didn't turn on and off as planned. I contacted technical support. Eventually they offered to send me 1 bulb to see if it would work; If that was the case they would have sent me 3 more.After they quickly shipped the new bulb, the original bulbs worked again. I was amazed that the temperature dropped and it wasn't so hot and muggy outside. While waiting for the test bulb, we had a day where the temperature was over 70C but the humidity was almost 100% and the bulbs started working again. I only used 3 bulbs and all three were enclosed in either a glass or hard plastic cover. some days. The lightbulb worked fine. Then the humidity rose and the lightbulb began to flicker. In the end I returned the lightbulbs to Revane. I don't actually need lightbulbs around the house so there's no point in storing them. I still use Etekcity smart switches and sockets and am very happy with it. I use a switch and outlet in a non-air conditioned detached garage and neither of them work in high humidity. So it's just a little bullshit with lightbulbs. Tech support said they would let their engineers know about the issues I was having. Maybe lightbulb versions would work better.
