A very handy and indispensable tool when playing with heat shrink tubing. Before buying I used my old soldering iron or lighter. But I get the best results with this hair dryer. The psychiatrist looks too professional. Even with some of the cheap heat shrink tubing I have, the heat gun works well. No problems so far, it heats up very, very quickly. For my purpose I don't need to let it run longer than 30-45 seconds. So I don't have any issues like melting the plastic body or smoke coming out of the gun. I am happy with my purchase. While it's cheap, if you just want to use it for what I use, Harbor Freight Tools has one for only $8.99. Update: 1/11/15 So I don't use it every day, but last night I used it to heat up some brushless motors with 3.5mm sockets. And I ran it for about 45 seconds. Turned it off and set it aside. And now I'm using it again, the damn low heat switch is broken. The switch has three positions. ON (LOW) - OFF - ON (HIGH). It does not stay in the ON-LOW position, you must hold it down for the hair dryer to work. This is especially annoying when you turn on the heat gun and put what you want to heat in front of it. It still works great, no smoke or anything but the switch just doesn't work anymore. The high temperature side still works, but the low temperature side needs to be pressed.
