I have an iPad mini (original) so I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a screen replacement when my kid dropped it. Being tech savvy I decided to try it myself. I used almost all the tools in the set - glad they sent more than enough. The tools they used weren't junk either. These were the tools I would have on hand should I need them. - Alcohol wipes? (Haven't used them but wish I had) - 3 small bowls/cups - Goo Gone I read a lot of reviews before buying and found people had issues. Here are some tips: SLOW DOWN. Unless you're an expert, this isn't an easy task, so take your time. It took me 45-60 minutes - to be in a well-lit place. I placed a table lamp above my workspace to provide additional light. Watch tutorial videos multiple times - watch several different ones. The best I found was iCracked which I looked at and seemed to have the most detail. There are no instructions in the set, so you are all there by yourself. - Have 3 small bowls/cups for holding and separating different screws from different areas. - Remove ALL adhesives from the iPad. You can wipe the area with alcohol to keep it completely clean. Be sure to test it before applying glue. Some of them may seem confusing but once you watch the video everything will become clear. I had a hard time filming the screen but my screen was in pretty bad shape so I expected that. I forgot to clean the inside of the screen before putting it on, so there is some dust inside. Although my fault. Also, I don't think I pulled all the adhesive off well enough that the bottom near the home button didn't quite stick. I would suggest putting a heavy book on the screen overnight to make sure it's secure. When I went back and cleaned it up, I used Goo Gone and then wiped it down with rubbing alcohol. I haven't seen this offered anywhere, but it was the easiest. UPDATE After about 24 hours of use it just stopped working. I could see the light under the LED screen turning on, but the LED screen wouldn't turn on. I took it apart and made sure the connections were good and put it back together and still nothing. Frustrated, I left him alone for a few days. Taking it apart again, I disconnected the screen and battery connectors and reconnected them. After I put it back together, everything worked perfectly! At this point the glue on the inside of the screen was dry, so I cleaned everything and ordered a replacement glue ($5). The sticking problem is by no means a product defect, but I want to be very honest about my experience. Overall I'm very happy with my experience and if the problem reoccurs I will fix it myself. The reason I only gave 4 stars was the lack of instructions.
