I almost got it at my local VW dealerships in Northeast Ohio (Cleveland area)! I have a 2003 GTI VR6 that I've been babysitting for all these years (19 now) and the car basically looks and drives like new. I take it to these local dealers for an annual full synthetic oil change, but lately their incompetence is becoming apparent. If the VR6 engine has never been flooded, it has been severely overfilled for the past 3-4 years in a row (I always check the levels myself after changing the oil). One might think that these specialists could now properly change the oil, at least in a once-popular VW model. Apparently they are confusing my 2.8 liter VR6 with other VR6 engines that are larger displacement and always over fill about a liter. Even after I told them not to over fill the oil when I bring the car. It's frustrating and inconvenient to bring the car back to them so they can adjust the oil level. Inject this syringe with a tube. With the tube in the dipstick hole, I was able to easily pull out about a quart of oil in about 15 minutes. Problem solved.
