We got this about 6 months ago and it worked flawlessly - it was safe, stable, easy to use and provided the protection we needed for our 1 year old. We were happy with the size - this is one of the few models available that can work in a narrow doorway; Our door opening to the stairs is barely 28 inches and fits just right. Bolts and extensions allow use in large doors. But it turns out it wasn't just the right size - it's an amazing product. Installs easily and is held perfectly tight without slipping just by using the tension knobs. Thought I'd try them first and then add inserted cups if needed, but didn't have to. Didn't show the slightest hint of pulling and Shaking little kids after months of random collisions and thousands of openings and closings. What was great about it was its ease of use. The door's opening/closing mechanism is very practical: by pushing past a certain point while opening, it keeps it open like a car door; when closing from a certain point, the automatic closing is activated, which works very well - the gate closes again. - closes quickly and safely. makes it easier to open and close with full hands. The opening switch is very blunt - this has baffled some of our adult guests. You slide a small switch and then slightly raise the entire door by lifting it over the bottom track where it latches. It's easy to get used to - now I do it without thinking - but it should confuse most toddlers. Our 4.5 year old can open it but he is confident enough because we taught him how to do it. You can also rotate the shift cylinder to lock it in place, although we haven't needed that extra measure yet. So we are completely satisfied with this goal. Sturdy, easy to use, reliable and attractive - a beautiful fine finish that looks great and is built to last. Highly recommended and we would buy it again in a heartbeat.
