I've read negative reviews about these headphones but I like them. The sound is great. As for the hum, I plugged my headphones into an amp at a moderate volume, so with the headphones on I didn't have to crank the headphone volume up to get sound. If you use the built in amplifier to boost a weak signal, you will end up with a lot of noise. This noise is normal and not due to a defect in these headphones. Immersive sound is scary. I really thought someone had entered my house so I took off my headphones and checked the door and realized it was the noise from the cutscene that I was watching. The ability to adjust game and player volume is great. I also buy ChatPad which adds more customization options for group conversations.
