The shoulder straps are really well padded but they are very thick. They're also ergonomically correct, but even after adjusting, they seem to pull my shoulders back in an uncomfortable way and give me pain in my neck and shoulders. Maybe not everyone, but that was my experience with this bag. The underside of the shoulder straps and the ventilation pads on the back are made of breathable nylon material that conforms to thinner, more comfortable fabrics. Be careful when wearing this bag with a jacket or sweater made of something like wool or cashmere.
