Summary: Good scanner, basically keeps what it promises. The scanning speed depends on the speed of your computer and the selected memory/DPIExcellent customer serviceLong version: The adage "You get what you pay for" applies to this scanner. The scanner is easy to use and basically meets its needs for dust and scratch cleaning. Not everything, but it cleans better than nothing, you'll have to try different settings for this option. I have used 20-30 year old negatives/slides that have not been properly stored and cleaned for use. The scan dialog allows for various DPI settings, but requires the user to know which resolution level to use before using it (I rescanned important photos for a higher resolution). Note that higher resolutions take longer to scan and process. For regular 4 x 6 (2400 dpi) 35mm negatives/slides, the process takes about 3 minutes (your time will depend on your system's speed and memory). Scanning software may require tighter controls. The software works for basic scanning but can use advanced controls (level and curve control). While this is found in photo editing (Photoshop, Elements, Lightroom), it would be nice to have more control when scanning. Also dust/scratches (like a clone/healing brush) and noise adjustment would be nice without using editing software. I had a problem setting up my scanner (late Christmas Eve) and posted a question to Revain as the driver/software location on the Plustek website. The answer came within an hour. I was expecting a couple of days but it was actually an hour. Although I've been fortunate enough to monitor them, this is outstanding customer service. Your answer solved my problems and I got the scanner up and running in less than 30 minutes. Full Disclosure: First, my typo caused the whole problem, read the instructions before setting it up. This is a full-featured scanner suitable for those who know how to edit photos and want to get high-quality scans.
