Sometimes you accidentally (mislabelling, bird's nest wiring, etc.) touch a 2A+ circuit when you thought it was a 4-20mA circuit. that blows those fuses, which is better than your $400 meter. So a few extra fuses in your pocket never hurts! I'm sure you can find fuses that aren't random, but for the price, why not just buy the real ones used to build your beautiful expensive meter in the first place?
