I have ordered two of these. Both boards work as advertised. I checked the boards with another thermocouple on the soldering iron tip. The temperature of the bite was around 280°C and I compared this to another device that also showed a temperature of around 280°C. The included thermocouple failed my soldering tip test. A minute later the temperature only rose to 180C. Then I realized I was comparing to tiny bead sensors and that wasn't fair. I lit my heat gun and placed the entire sensor body in the stream of air. This time the temperature reading was as expected and although the response was a bit slower than a lightbulb thermocouple it was to be expected and it's a perfectly usable sensor. it's in the environment you feel. Simply placing the tip on the surface to be measured will give poor results.
