Everything is very simple here. After putting lots of AA batteries in it and going through the menu, I put it on a ledge in the yard and forgot about it. What I ended up with was a few minutes of really crisp time-lapse video. It was easy, although there are plenty of options to tweak things like the amount or time of exposure, or the length of the video files output. There are two modes: photo and video. Both modes record videos automatically, but Photo mode does this by stitching together individual photos taken at regular intervals. Probably a traditional time lapse. And the video mode uses video footage to create the final time-lapse video. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the resulting video, considering no effort was made to enhance the scene. The construction seems pretty solid and I think it will be fine for long shots. A few things are a bit annoying. First, it is inconvenient to use the menu. I keep finding myself in the wrong place in the menu system when trying to change something like exposure interval. And second, these are all AA batteries. Surely we have the best battery technology now, right? The internals of this camera are the same as some security cameras that also use the AA heap. Neither of the above two complaints is a deal breaker for me. I love this camera. I'm gonna use this thing a lot especially in places where I really don't want to leave my DSLR unattended for many hours.
