I did not use this tape for painting so I cannot speak to that aspect of use of this product.I used it for crafting and taping together construction paper and other similar materials. Taping them to a wall constructed of painted sheetrock and windows. It was difficult to tear the tape it would tear lengthwise and not across. And when applying it it seemed fine at first however some parts within hours we're just peeling off on their own and all pieces within 48 Hours had just fallen off the wall. When we applied we firmly pushed on the tape in a motion securing against the sheetrock and the glass. However that was all in vain it did nothing to help to adhere it to the sheetrock and glass.Conclusion. The waste of my money and I do not recommend this product in the used as I described.I recommend Scotch blue their product has never failed me for these projects
