This scarf caused a rash on my neck until I washed it. It's my own fault if I wear it before washing, so I won't blame the manufacturers for my own ignorance. BUT: I shouldn't get a scarf rash. It is abnormal and uncharacteristic to buy clothes to wear. In any case, the material is soft and the scarf serves its purpose. It's not the thickest of materials, so think of it as thin as a flannel shirt. This scarf is about the same thickness. The colors are great and after washing the scarf no longer bothers my skin.
