This light goes back in time, say the early to mid 20th century, say the 1930s to the 1950s. This device is a bit more modern and cute, so I'd say it's slightly influenced by the 1930's and 1950's atmosphere. The actual lamp is typically cheap "Made in China" fare, but as usual, it ends up delivering the experience its design offers. The lamp must be assembled from segments, which is quite simple. The current mid-20th century version of this lamp is a single continuous rod suspended from a ceiling fixture. Again, if early to mid 20th century authenticity is not your thing, this lamp will more than meet your needs. The lamp is worth its price, albeit simply. The light is fairly durable, but not recommended for harsh environments. This lamp is more suitable for the living room than for the workshop. I love this mount. I'm glad I bought it. I'm taking off a star because it's cheap and light.
