Review on Discontinued Canon EOS 7D Digital SLR πŸ“· Camera Body Only with 18 MP CMOS Sensor by Anand Gedam ᠌

Expectations were not met, average quality.

Canon 300D, Canon 20D, and Canon 7D are all experienced photographers' choices. When compared to the "old woman" 20D, there is a significant increase in the number of functions, including Live View, video, and a significantly larger screen. Yet all of this is really "decoration," which is really just advertising in the pricing lists. But in substance. The device has experienced a considerable decline in terms of image quality, and nearly all of the photographs (90%) do not have a clear focus (not blurry due to handlessness, namely, not sharp, even from a tripod). Many times verified through testing on lenses: * Canon EF-S 10-22mm, F3.5 - out of focus; * Canon 50 mm, F1.8 - not even near to focus; * Canon 50 mm, F1.4 - not even close to focus; * Canon 70-200 mm, F4.0 - coming into focus is exceedingly unusual, but it happens sometimes; * Go on with this. In the past, it was possible to shoot a long series of sporting events while simultaneously switching the format from RAW to JPEG in a single motion (instead of just a little RAW). This feature is no longer available on the 7D; however, there is a button that allows you to switch from RAW to RAW + JPEG; after that, you will need to turn the wheels, selectors, and hit OK. If you are in the thick of things and you urgently need to start shooting a lot and quickly (and when you need it "quickly," then it happens "urgently," because time is running out), then you have already missed your shots. If you are in the thick of things and you need to start shooting a lot and quickly, then you have already missed your shots. Before, there was a "sport" mode ("running guy") – in the event of an emergency, I converted it to it with one movement and shot the file in JPG, while the ISO climbed (automatically and to a high setting), and the shutter speed was chosen automatically. That is to say, people realized that there are times when you have an immediate need to begin shooting a large number of photos in a short amount of time, and it does not matter what ISO and JPEG format you choose; it is either that or nothing at all. In the 7D, there is no mode of this kind. It is obvious that everything may be configured through the menu; however, the question at hand is how to gain access to the capability as quickly as possible, so that it can be used right away! As a result, you lose opportunities and frames. It is unfortunate that the new battery cannot be used in conjunction with the older ones, and the cost of the replacement battery is one hundred dollars. The 7D battery is chewing through its charge, but don't worry, mom! On the previous model of the 20D, it was possible to take 1,500 frames without having to change the battery, but I _never in my life_ shot without a backup battery. It takes a much longer to charge the battery on the new 7D, and the battery starts to show signs of discharge after the camera has already taken a couple hundred pictures.

Pros
  • The capacity to maintain attention while staring at a huge screen and perceiving the image at its true proportions (Live View) Matrix that cleans itself automatically (I hope that it really cleans, in any case it beeps - before, when it was not there, this was a problem) Shooting in rapid bursts
Cons
  • Rapidly depletes the power supply Autofocus of a revolting nature (rather, almost none) It is not feasible to switch the format from RAW to JPEG with a single movement of the hand, which is crucial when you need to "shoot" the longest possible series of images as quickly as possible. There is no "sport" mode that comes standard on the wheel. That was useful back when it existed. It is not possible to use the old battery with this one (upgrade problem) Video recording that does not make use of the focusing feature when the footage is being captured (so why even have it?!
