Definitely don't buy it. Garbage.

The "Born in Kansas" reviewer, who also gave a first start, did a good job explaining the shortcomings of this poorly designed product. We put it at the top of the stairs to prevent an 18 month old grandson from falling on it. It took my wife and 31 year old son (both mechanically gifted - my wife is a contractor) to set it up properly in 30 minutes. Incredibly poorly designed and cheap gears. It takes two people to do anything with it. Once installed, none of the four adults in our family would allow it to open and go inside. Mechanisms do not work as described. It's the only way to get over it, and certainly the hardest, when you're going down the stairs with 9-inch risers. This first case is of great importance. Trying to take it off and put it back in the return box was a nightmare. Another half hour of frustration from two people working hard together. The sticks do not slide as described in the written instructions. Spring loaded locking mechanisms do not hold as advertised. We have another great one that's out of stock right now (Branded Summerโ„ข) so we gave this one a try. Big mistake.
