Review on Pyle Home Marine Car Amplifier - Bridgeable 4-Channel by Jim Case

Revainrating 2 out of 5

I would not recommend buying this amp.

For the sake of this review I will try to be honest and honest about my experience. I bought this amp for a 1991 Jeep Wrangler. It is designed to power a pair of 6.5" speakers at 200W RMS in a centra pod enclosure. Marine grade amplifiers and speakers. I was attracted to this amp because of the built in Bluetooth connectivity and also because of the USB. and SD card functionality. I run this setup without a head unit. I've only ever used Bluetooth anyway, I don't listen to the radio. It's either Pandora, Spotify or a USB stick. After installing the first amplifier and connecting the speakers, everything worked perfectly. Increasing the volume on the amp distorts the sound severely from about the middle of the marker on the dial. When I started the jeep the sound stopped. And when you parked the car, you had to reset the cable connections back to separate channels for it to play. The first amplifier, the left speaker on channel 1, the right speaker on channel 2, the car is off, the sound works. Turn on the car, the sound will stop. o Connect the positive pole of the left speaker to channel 1 and the negative pole to channel 3, the positive pole of the right speaker to channel 2, the negative pole to channel 4. When you parked the car, you had to put the cables for the sound back into their original ones bring position. New amplifier or second amplifier, when the car is off, the positive and negative left speaker on channel 1, the right speaker on the positive and negative channel 2, the sound will be played. Turn on the car, install the wires in the same positions as the old amplifier, the sound will play. The difference is that when you turn off the car, the sound will continue to play and you don't have to rewire. I also noticed that there were a few differences when the second amp arrived. First, there was a warranty void sticker on one of the screws. Second, the SD card slot and USB slot have rubber plugs to make them waterproof. And third, the knobs on the front of the amp are tightening. None of that was in the first amp. When this problem was discovered in the first amp, I contacted Pyle directly. I've read reviews of Pyle products on other sites, particularly marine grade amps, that say the amps sometimes stop working and a quick cycle cycle works. Pyle Audio stated that this problem is a known defect in their amplifiers and offered two options. Send it in for repair or contact Revain for a replacement. I took the last one. And Revain shipped replacements quickly and promptly and made the return process easy too. I'm also wary if I installed something wrong. But since there are only power, ground and speaker connections I don't see what the fault is. The lack of troubleshooting or installation instructions only makes the problem worse. If anyone is considering buying this amp I would advise against. I will continue to use it, but I plan to replace it with something more reliable. Especially since I'd like to add more speakers and maybe a subwoofer to the setup. The adage is true, you get what you pay for and in this case Pyle Audio's lack of support and information only makes matters worse. At the time of writing it is 9:40am, I live in New Jersey, Pyle Audio is based in New York. Google says their office is open at 8:30am, I've tried calling them 3 times since 9am but got no answer. So weigh everything when considering this amp. I like looking at negative reviews and low start reviews and this is the first time I've come across what the negative reviews are saying. Usually I think these are people with high expectations from the product, but no, in this case it's just a low quality product.
