The combination of battery generator and solar panel is great survival, emergency and camping equipment. However, not all solar modules are created equal. Solar technology has improved greatly over the last decade and prices vary. So how to choose a solar panel? In my opinion, the solar energy conversion efficiency and service life should be high. Let's see how Paxcess's 120W solar panel fared in my tests. ADVANTAGES: Good charging efficiency. Most panels should be charged to 50-75% of their rated capacity --- I got about 68 watts from my testing on a sunny fall day in California. That's a respectable amount considering the sun is weaker in spring than in summer. The panels are monocrystalline and represent the most efficient consumer solar charging technology available today. The foldable design makes the panel portable, easy to store and dustproof - Built-in stand that helps to elevate the panel at a 45 degree angle to the sun for a better view - Can charge battery generators with an input voltage of up to 18V/6.6A - 2 integrated USB charging ports (USB-C and QuickCharge 3.0)Jackery- -- Although Goal Zero andJackery use an 8mm connector , they are not interchangeable due to the different open lengths between the two companies --- The product photo shows an 8mm male plug will work with both Jackery and Jackery. with Goal Zero but that is partly wrong as stated above - Thug h not listed, probably IPX3 waterproof for outdoor use. See the TIPS section for more information. A rubber grip on one end allows the panel to be hung on an object such as a tree. Two corner holes allow the plate to be attached with rope and/or carabiners. Panels are charging. The price is much lower than Goal Zero but in line with other brands. Circuit to prevent reverse charge, overload, etc. VS. 1", although this is equivalent to other panels of this capacity - No built in battery to store some of the charge generated by the panel - Can be considered expensive for the average hiker/tourist - 1 year warranty TIPS/NOTES - Lifespan of the Solar battery : Panels typically die/become inefficient after 25-30 years. Solar panels work best outdoors in direct sunlight. Although they can work in the shade or behind windows, charging efficiency is greatly reduced. So keep panels outside, even if you can't see the sun - ALL panels must be opened to generate a charge --- Do not completely cover one or more panels or the charging process will be interrupted - In order to maintain solar efficiency, the panels must be kept clean --- Remove dust with a soft brush and wipe with a damp (NOT wet) T uch, like tree sap, should be removed as soon as possible.Keep the charge controller dry.It is NOT waterproof!---Keep away from wet indoors or outdoors---Mount it on a bracket with cables attached Bottom --- Should be as close to the batteries as possible, but keep it 14" apart --- - Must be 4" clear in ALL directions (top, bottom, sides) to allow for proper airflow - Although not otherwise stated, the panels are likely to be IPX3 waterproof: they can withstand water splashes at an angle of up to 60 degrees or less. --- Keep the plate away from water splashed at an angle greater than 60 degrees. --- Keep the plate away from low pressure (or higher pressure) water jets. --- Do not submerge panel under water keeps longer if away from water at all - Operating temperature range: -4F to 122F (-20C to 50C) - DO NOT bend panels more than 30 degrees to avoid breakage! - Keep panels away from fire and heaters - DO NOT unplug all cables if battery station or solar panel included. Fold the panels down first (to disable solar charging) before unplugging the cable. LOADING TIME. To calculate the power consumed by the device: Voltage x Current --- For example, if the vacuum cleaner is 120V and 9.5A, its power is 1140W. (120 x 9.5) - To calculate how long a 100 -W battery or a 100W generator to charge from a solar panel would require: 100W/(panel power x [0.5 or 0.75]) --- In an ideal laboratory environment, the solar panels will charge at the specified power (i.e. 80W). Expect only 50-75% (ie 40-60 watts) outdoors on a nice sunny day. For example, if the solar panel is rated at 80 watts, it may only last 1.67 hours [100]. W / (80W x 0.75)] for charging, depending on the environmental conditions and the age of the panel. In general, the Paxcess 120W solar panel is expected to charge decently, but unfortunately I can't fully push them to their limits as it's autumn. /Winter time. During the summer I expect the modules to deliver up to 100 watts of output power for a battery station that can handle that power. With thoughtful design, features, and optional accessories, the Paxcess 120W is a worthwhile purchase.
