I'll echo most of the other reviews: Like the D-450Z, the D-460Z is a great digital camera for the price. While I didn't like the move to a cheaper plastic body on this model, the increased ease of use when navigating the menus more than makes up for it. As with the previous camera, you still get high-quality digital images with a range of features including flash for red-eye reduction, TV image display, 3x optical (lens) and 2x digital (computer) zoom and many more Camera one of the best in its class. But compared to earlier versions of the range, digital camera technology has improved and the price has come down (mainly thanks to the earlier models in the range taking the market by storm). You can now get higher megapixel, higher resolution cameras for about the same price as the D-460Z, like the Nikon Coolpix 800 and the Kodak DC280. You have to go to your local. . . Look for ALL the options at an electronics store before deciding on a model (and then buy it online because it's cheaper ;). While the D-460Z isn't "modern" anymore, I still think it has enough features and amazing quality to beat many other options in its class. Accessories: Expect to spend a few hundred dollars on additional accessories for this camera. I recommend at least 8 rechargeable NiMH batteries for power (which you can buy online or at your local supermarket), a Smartmedia USB reader if your computer supports USB (this reduces the SLOW time it takes to transfer images from camera to computer considerably) and a "soft" protective case for the camera (the soft leather case from Olympus is good but overpriced unless you buy it on sale). Also useful are 2 additional 32MB or 64MB SmartMedia cards to take as many vacation photos as you need without erasing them (at least at the rate I shoot). The camera lets you record just over twice as many ultra-high quality compressed images as SmartCard. You can buy them online at places like amazon.com. However, Olympus-branded accessories sell out quickly. Note: SmartMedia cards wear out over time, although you can potentially take tens of thousands (or even hundreds of thousands) of shots before this happens if you buy a decent quality card.
