LED burned out the ballast in our fluorescent bulb

I was hoping these T5 8W LEDs replacing my old T5 8W fluorescent bulbs would save me the hassle and expense of all the fluorescent bulbs installed under the counter in our home exchange. Builder with new LED lights. Unfortunately installing one of the replacement LED tubes burned the ballast in the fixture and tripped the circuit breaker. Two more spare LED tubes lit up with a delay when flipping the switch and flickered intermittently. This could have something to do with the installation in a 2 bulb (8W/13W) fixture where the second tube in the fixture was fluorescent. If so, I wish there was a warning not to mix LED and fluorescent bulbs in the same fixture that comes with the LED replacement bulbs I've bought. I'm not an electrician. Perhaps those more electrically inclined already have the clue, but I haven't seen anything to suggest you can't mix LED and phosphor in the same fixture.
