My daughter wanted an action camera. I had a black GoPro Hero 4 but it wasn't a GoPro camera with a screen so not very suitable for kids. So I started searching the used camera market and the best GoPro I could find for the same price as this Amcrest camera turned out to be the Hero 4 Black. So it's perfect to compare this thing because the price is the same. BUT you get a lot more for the same money at Amcrest. Advantages compared to GoPro1. SCREEN! You can see what you point to.2. 4K 60FPS is a higher frame rate in 4K than Hero 4 Black. When comparing 4K footage side-by-side, the Amcrest video is smoother and with similar detail.3. Simple user interface, fewer settings never used on a GoPro. Suitable for children. Disadvantages compared to GoPro1. he is more I think for screen2. The battery life is not that good. I think because of screenSimilar:1. Both lack electronic image stabilization (EIS). You really have to go up in price to get a good EIS camera. This can be fixed in video editors.2. The microphone was the same for both. Outside of the waterproof case, the sound was good. I chose Amcrest over many of the other action cameras on Amazon because of the brand recognition as I use their security cameras in my home. I have a colleague who bought one of the cheapest and was just embarrassed at how poor the quality of the video was - it was dark, grainy and grossly oversized. but still makes a good picture.
