The exhaust duct for my dryer was of poor quality and has always bothered me. When I finally got a leak (spraying lint on the rafters) I decided to fix it. It's in an awkward location so wasn't expecting it, but once installed it worked fine. First I tried a semi-rigid tube but I found it difficult to fully close the plastic latches. I was afraid of breaking the tabs so I switched to a lighter foil version that was easy to put on. I've noticed that the two joints (exhaust end and dryer end) seem to have less stress as the foil exhaust is lighter and flexes more easily. I hope this will prevent it from falling apart. It took me two tries to snap the ring into place, the first time it didn't quite fit, the second time it jumped right in. Just a few cycles and it's sealed. Now it will be much easier to replace it every year.
