My key decided to throw away the lock/unlock button. I couldn't find it so I couldn't reinstall it. I had a choice at the time: replace the $400 Porsche key or replace the key shell on my existing key. This is a key shell replacement. Works well after setup. It uses parts from the old key (alarm circuit board, transponder from the old key and electrical contacts from the battery). The only thing that bothered me was the need to transfer the electrical contacts from the old key to the new key. It was a very painstaking process, with the possibility that one of the contacts flew away and was never seen again. I would only recommend this to young people with great dexterity. I do not recommend it for the elderly who may have shaky hands and poor eyesight. They require some sort of magnifying device to work - as I mentioned the electronic connections are a bit fiddly indeed.
