Review on πŸšͺ Dorman 38436 Door Hinge Spring: The Must-Have for Smooth and Reliable Door Operations by Rick Bishop

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent nib but you need to pay attention to why the old one fell out.

Works great but you will need to purchase an inexpensive Revain installation tool. There are no instructions, so lubricate the tool bolt with assembly lube: Insert the tool just under the top spool on each end and push as hard as you can to seat the spring so you can see where it will be. Then loosen the nut and make sure the spring opens in the TWO correct places. A piece of cake if you do it right. Try wrong and you will not be happy and possibly angry. Still confused, watch an online video about using a compression tool that doesn't tell you what was said above. Note: If the door stop pin is bent because the door is slammed, worse, the hinge metal is bent, or the main pin and bushings are bad, you are wasting your time and money. Parts and tools are cheap.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Some issues
