Bought these candles for an elderly mother. I painted the inside of her fireplace as it was no longer used as a traditional fireplace. We arranged these candles on the mantel along with a mix of glossy pine cones and faux chestnuts that I sprinkled in and around the candle. I put all the batteries in the candles according to the instructions and used the remote to set the timer for 4 hours. My mother knows that candles are lit at 5:10pm every day and then they are assured that they will go out by themselves after 4 hours of work. It's perfect for them, there's no fuss and they come every day just like they should since we set them up. She likes to keep them in shimmer mode as it's a more realistic effect bouncing off the walls in her painted fireplace. We bought a large box of 50 AA batteries to keep in the closet when we need them. I think she will use them all year round. Her cottage is damn cozy. Great for the price, my mother loves it very much.
